Oh yes, I heard that lining up objects in itself doesn't necessarily mean the child is autistic. Which was why I guess I delayed having my son diagnosed, because he also was maintaining eye contact from babyhood, so I was sure he wasn't on the spectrum. It took a pediatrician to notice a cluster of other signs, mostly developmental delays (certainly, lining up objects is not a sign of developmental delay) to make me seek a diagnosis.

Thanks for this note, as it's a chance for me to qualify that lining up objects doesn't automatically correlate with autism. Even neurotypical kids can be organized, detail-oriented, and love to play alone.
