I opened an account on Vocal almost a year ago. Until now, I haven't written or even copy-pasted one of my Medium stories in there. With what you've written here, it dawned on me now that I write on Medium because I was first a reader here before I was a writer. I've been reading stories on Medium long before I signed up to write. In Vocal, I signed up to be a writer first, and I've never been part of their "communities" (strangely called so, with no comments section actually enabling a real community).
